PARTNER MOVES - Dentons appoints new partner in Competition and Antitrust team in London

05 Nov 2015

Dentons has appointed Adrian Magnus as a partner in its Competition and Antitrust team in London. Previously a partner at Berwin Leighton Paisner for 21 years, Magnus has a wealth of experience advising on a wide gamut of competition issues including UK and EU merger control, market investigations, public procurement and competition-related disputes.

Jeremy Cohen, Dentons UKMEA Chief Executive Officer, commented, "Competition law is one of the most international and rapidly developing areas of legal practice, with increasing alignment throughout the world, new competition authorities in emerging markets, and ever-increasing international co-operation between competition authorities. The scope of Adrian's work and the breadth of his experience will be a real asset to the Firm ."

Magnus advises clients in a wide range of sectors including banking and finance, real estate, energy, transport and infrastructure, and TMT.  In 2013, he was seconded to the Financial Conduct Authority, working with its new Competition Department for six months. This gave him a unique insight into the competition issues facing the financial services arena.

Magnus said, "Competition law applies to all sectors and geographies. I'm excited by Dentons' momentum and international dimension and am looking forward to working with my new colleagues across the globe."

Magnus has been involved with ground breaking work. He made the first ever application to the Office of Fair Trading's (OFT) Procedural Adjudicator, was part of the BLP team which acted for National Grid on its record breaking cartel damages claim and he acted for BDO on the Competition Commission's investigation that led to the mandatory tendering of audit services.

He was a founder member of BLP's Competition group and was instrumental in making it an award-winning, top ranked practice.
