PARTNER MOVES - King & Wood Mallesons: Rudolf Haas joins the Corporate team as a new partner in Frankfurt

08 Mar 2016

Partner Rudolf Haas will join King & Wood Mallesons on 1 March 2016, further strengthening the Frankfurt Corporate team.

Rudolf joins from Latham & Watkins where he was a partner for 15 years in its Frankfurt office. He is a well-regarded capital markets lawyer with extensive experience both in debt capital markets and equity capital markets. This includes cross-border mandates and frequent work on high-yield transactions acting for both banks and issuers.

In addition, he has a long-standing track-record of public takeovers – often Chinese inbound direct investments. His current focus is advising on debt offerings for German and other European issuers.

Rudolf’s arrival will develop King & Wood Mallesons’ growing capital markets expertise globally, and will also bolster the prominence of its capital markets practice in Germany.

Michael Cziesla, co-managing partner at King & Wood Mallesons in Germany, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rudolf to our team. King & Wood Mallesons is one of the world’s leading capital market practices. Having Rudolf join the firm allows us to further integrate the German corporate and finance departments here in Germany and tie them into our global platform. Together with Munich partner Hilger von Livonius and London partner Bart Capeci, Rudolf will create an even stronger European DCM and ECM practice.”

Stephen Kon, senior partner of King & Wood Mallesons in Europe & Middle East, said: “Rudolf’s hire directly supports our continued investment in strengthening areas that are of strategic importance to our domestic and global clients. He will complement our market-leading Private Equity, Finance and Financial Institutions practices and will help us to deliver the highest level of service to our clients.”

Rudolf Haas said: “Joining King & Wood Mallesons provides me with a great opportunity to contribute across a broad range of transactions. I am excited to be an active part of a dedicated and long-term strategy at KWM, and to play a significant role in further enhancing the area of capital markets globally.”

Rudolf’s hire is part of the firm’s development strategy that has seen 21 partners join the firm in Europe and the Middle East over the last 18 months, including Corporate partner Anthony van der Hauwaert, Capital Markets partner Bart Capeci and International Finance partner Lorraine Vaz.
