PARTNER MOVES - Roschier expands EU & Competition team in Stockholm with the addition of new partner

16 Apr 2015

Roschier ramps up its cross-border EU & Competition practice by adding internationally recognized competition practitioner Kristian Hugmark to its Swedish team.

With the appointment of Kristian Hugmark as partner to its EU & Competition team in Stockholm, Roschier strengthens its cross-border expertise in EU and competition law, in particular with regard to Commission-related work, merger control, cartels and compliance work. Kristian Hugmark will be Roschier's fourth competition partner in addition to Stockholm-based Lars Johansson and partners Christian Wik and Niko Hukkinen in Finland. He has worked for some 13 years in Brussels and will be joining Roschier from the position of resident partner in the Brussels office of Swedish law firm Vinge.

"Roschier has a leading cross-border EU & Competition practice with considerable expertise in matters with multi-jurisdictional dimensions and broad experience in different industries. With Kristian onboard, we will increase our capacity even further to serve our clients in matters related to strategic antitrust and practical merger control advice at all stages of a transaction, cartel proceedings as well as antitrust compliance programs. Kristian's extensive experience of advising companies both in Brussels and in Sweden will add significant value to our clients. We look forward to welcoming Kristian to the team," says Christian Wik, who heads Roschier's cross-border EU & Competition practice.

"It is expected that companies will be facing a harsher competition climate with more complex merger control, increased litigation, more aggressive enforcement and stricter corporate governance," says Jens Bengtsson, Partner and Head of Roschier's office in Stockholm. With four partners and strong competence in both EU and national competition law, Roschier's EU & Competition practice will be ready to face our clients' most sophisticated needs."

"The recent appointment is an excellent example of our continuous efforts to develop the firm's cross-border expertise in all core practice areas in the Nordic market. Roschier's successful 'one-firm' strategy and strong competence on a Nordic level was recently acknowledged in The Lawyer European Awards, where Roschier received the 'Law Firm of the Year: The Nordics' award," concludes Rainer Hilli, Managing partner of Roschier.
