PARTNER MOVES - White & Case Enhances Global Asset Finance Practice with Addition of New Partner in New York

20 Nov 2013

Global law firm White & Case LLP today announced that it has strengthened its Global Asset Finance Practice with the addition of Ji Hoon Hong as a partner in New York.

Hong's practice focuses on aviation-related structured debt capital markets transactions. In the mid-1990s, Hong was integral to the creation of the Enhanced Equipment Trust Certificate (EETC) product, and he is recognized as a leading lawyer in this area. His experience also includes advising clients on aviation related asset-backed securitizations, other asset class finance transactions, equity and debt capital markets transactions, sovereign debt restructurings, and general corporate matters. He joins the Firm from Shearman & Sterling.

"Ji's established track record aligns with the Firm's strategy to strengthen our diversified Asset Finance Practice across a broad range of disciplines on a global basis," said Christopher Frampton, head of White & Case's Global Asset Finance Practice. "His extensive experience in the structured finance area will be invaluable to our clients around the world, especially as various products in this sector, including the EETC form of financing, are becoming not only increasingly attractive but also available to entities outside of the United States."

"More clients are turning to capital markets and securitization transactions to finance aircraft and transport acquisitions," said Someera Khokhar, Americas regional section head for Energy, Infrastructure, Project Finance and Asset Finance. "Ji's in-depth knowledge of this intersection will help clients navigate these financing structures and further strengthen our leading practice."

White & Case's Global Asset Finance Practice includes more than 70 lawyers in New York, London and more than a dozen other key commercial centers around the world. Over the past 10 years, White & Case has helped structure and execute more than US$70 billion in aircraft, equipment and facility finance transactions.
