Sampension, one of Denmark’s largest pension providers, has announced the acquisition of 11 on-shore wind farms based in Germany and Sweden.
At a valuation of approx. DKK 1.4 billion, Sampension has acquired 100% of the shares in the renewable energy investment company NordEnergie Renewables A/S, which has subsequently been renamed Sampension Renewables P/S. The sellers comprise of private investors, including a number of Norwegian pension funds.
The acquired portfolio has an aggregate capacity of 146 MW and consists of 67 turbines from Vestas, Enercon and Nordex.
The investment is part of Sampension’s strategy to build a portfolio of low-risk direct exposure to infrastructure assets and seeks to ensure a stable, long-term profit due to existing political agreements in Germany guaranteeing fixed subsidies in a number of years to come. Compared to offshore wind farms, the history of production and operations of on-shore wind farms is more extensive, which for investors entails a lower degree of risk in the investment.
Bruun & Hjejle acted as legal counsel to Sampension.
