Simpson Thacher Represents Underwriters in $2.5 Billion Debt Offering by Wal-Mart

Simpson Thacher represented Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Goldman, Sachs & Co., J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, BBVA Securities Inc., Mitsubishi UFJ Securities (USA), Inc., Mizuho Securities USA Inc. and other underwriters in connection with a $2.5 billion offering of debt securities by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Wal-Mart offered and sold $500 million principal amount of its 1.000% Notes due 2017, $1 billion principal amount of its 3.300% Notes due 2024 and $1 billion principal amount of its 4.300% Notes due 2044. The net proceeds from the offering will be used for general corporate purposes.

Wal-Mart is the world’s largest retailer, with total revenues of $476.3 billion in its fiscal year ended January 31, 2014.

The Simpson Thacher team for the debt offering included, among others, John D. Lobrano, Teresa Chen and Jim Russell (Capital Markets), Jon Cantor and Jodi Sackel (Tax), and Jennie Getsin (Blue Sky).
