Nabarro has today announced the appointment of Candice Blackwood, a partner who will join the firm's Real Estate practice and who has particular expertise in the healthcare sector. Candice, who joins from Berwin Leighton Paisner, has acted regularly on repeat UK transactions and inward investment from US REITS as well as advising on complex real estate deals, institutional investment, urban regeneration and development projects.
Her hire forms part of Nabarro's ongoing strategy to invest in its offering to clients in five key sectors: financial services, healthcare, infrastructure, manufacturing and real estate. Over recent years the firm has won a number of major healthcare mandates including the UK elements of Health Care REIT's $4.3bn acquisition of Sunrise Senior Living as well as a series of ongoing transactions for the US listed company, and Care UK's acquisition of 111 UK service and specialist hospitals.
Ciaran Carvalho, head of Real Estate at Nabarro, commented:
"Candice has carved out a superb reputation for herself as a multi-disciplinary lawyer acting on the most complex deals in both real estate and healthcare markets. Her appointment demonstrates the firm's commitment to continued investment in our market leading Real Estate practice and enhances our ability to grow the cross-disciplinary work we win from the healthcare sector."
Graham Stedman, senior partner at Nabarro, said:
"I am delighted to welcome Candice to Nabarro. Her appointment is a boost for the transactional side of our Healthcare Sector group. Her skills will complement those of colleagues in corporate, competition and our professional and clinical risk teams."
