Yacht Squadron Racing Limited - British challenge for the 35th America’s Cup

Slaughter and May advised in relation to the British challenge by Yacht Squadron Racing Limited (Squadron Racing) (a new club created by the members of the Royal Yacht Squadron) for the 35th America’s Cup to be staged in 2017. Sir Ben Ainslie’s team (Ben Ainslie Racing) will be running the challenge on behalf of Squadron Racing. Ben Ainslie Racing is a talented British team seeking to bring the America’s Cup back to Britain for the first time since it was launched in 1851. The bid was launched today by the Duchess of Cambridge at Greenwich National Maritime Museum.

Slaughter and May advised in relation to the America’s Cup qualification criteria, the yacht club agreement with Ben Ainslie Racing, intellectual property licensing, and the incorporation and set up of Squadron Racing. Linklaters acted for Ben Ainslie Racing.
