Aeria Games & Entertainment, Inc., located in California (USA), has sold its worldwide PC games business including its subsidiary Aeria Games Europe GmbH to ProSiebenSat.1 Games, a subsidiary of ProSiebenSat.1 Group and leading games publisher.
Aeria Games & Entertainment, Inc., recently rebranded as PlayNext, was founded in Silicon Valley in 2006. It forms part of the PlayNext Group with offices in the USA, Brazil, Japan and Korea. The German branch in Berlin with 190 employees was opened in 2008.
PlayNext is a leading mobile games provider and developer and, going forward, will focus exclusively on its global mobile games business. Recent releases by the company include the popular game “X-Men: Battle of the Atom”.
King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin has advised PlayNext on German and UK aspects of the transaction alongside US law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (Mark Reinstra / Brad Kondracki), which acted as lead counsel to PlayNext.
