Frankfurt/Main - US technology company Bruker Corporation is selling its Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) business to Analytik Jena AG. The acquisition is expected to close in September. The purchase price was not disclosed. As part of the asset deal, Analytik Jena will acquire patents, licensing rights, global research, development and production capacity as well as most of the employees in the ICP-MS division.

A team from CMS Hasche Sigle headed by lead partner Dr Hendrik Hirsch advised the vendor, Bruker Daltonics Inc., a subsidiary of Bruker Corporation, on all legal aspects of the sale.

ICP-MS technology is a special form of analysis used to detect a wide range of elements. The method is in very high demand throughout the world due to its sensitivity. Applications include geochemistry, materials science, semiconductor analysis, food testing, pharmaceutical clinical analysis, forensics and environmental studies.
