The service provider AMOVA, a subsidiary of the Adomea GmbH based in Bochum has developed a mobile system for the fully-automated measurement of car damage by hail, called MIKO (Mobiles Identifikationssystem für Kraftfahrzeugoberflächenfehler, mobile identification of sar surface damage). TÜV Rheinland now entered a cooperation agreement with the new company for a joint marketing and sale of the mobile system.
The innovative technique was used for the first time by Westfälische Provinzial after the storm “Ela”. It will be offered to insurance companies in Europe and Asia enabling them to deal with damage by hail quicker and more efficient. In 2013, German insurers payed about 2.7 billion Euro to their customers in 450.000 damage cases.
An Osborne Clarke Team led by corporate partner Dr Björn Hürten advised TÜV Rheinland on this cooperation agreement. The team also included Dr Alexander Dlouhy (both corporate), Marcus Sacré, Dr Johannes Graf Ballestrem (both IP), Tanja Aschenbeck-Florange, Thomas Nagel (both finance) and Dr Thomas Lindner (antitrust).
