Dentons has advised Meininger Holding on the formation of a commercial partnership with leading European real estate investor Foncière des Régions, through its subsidiary Foncière des Murs, to source and acquire hotel properties across Europe. The strategic agreement could lead to €400 million in investments through triple net long-term leases over the next four years.
Meininger will source, lease and manage the hotel properties across European gateway cities with primary targets set to include Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Berlin, Geneva, Hamburg, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, Rome, Vienna and Zurich.
Meininger is a subsidiary of European specialist travel group Holidaybreak Ltd and currently operates 16 hotels in 10 European cities. It specialises in a unique hybrid concept combining the service and comfort of a hotel with the uncomplicated nature of a hostel: top locations, high-quality amenities, flexible room structure and reasonable prices.
Jeremy Cohen, partner in Dentons' Corporate practice, commented: "We are extremely pleased to have supported Meininger in driving its innovative concept forwards. In taking this key step in its European expansion, Meininger was able to tap into Dentons' extensive international offering in order to close the partnership successfully."
The Dentons team comprised Jeremy Cohen, Simon Mitchell (both London), Mark Daliere (US and London), Jan Hellner (Berlin) and Alexandre Poupard and Maxime Simonnet (both Paris). UBS acted as the financial advisers on the partnership.
