A BLP team led by real estate partner Carsten Bremer advised NIS ARB EDO on the acquisition of the interior design shopping mall “stilwerk” in Berlin
NIS ARB EDO is a real estate investment company mainly financed by Japanese institutional investors. NIS ARB EDO instructed Berwin Leighton Paisner (Germany) LLP for the first time to provide legal advice. Commercial consultation on the acquisition was provided by ARB Asset Management in Berlin.
The shopping mall with its more than 50 stores on a total area of more than 24,000 m² is very popular with those who enjoy design and shopping and has had a significant creative impact on Kantstraße and its surroundings. The stores offer many well-known brands such as Bang & Olufsen, USM, Lambert, C. Bechstein, bulthaup or Rolf Benz. The shopping mall was acquired by SHCO 95 S.à r.l. from Amelia Asset 1 B.V. The seller was supported on this transaction by BNP Paribas Real Estate. Amelia Asset 1 B.V. had acquired the property in 2006 in a block deal. The complex had been opened in 1999 and comprises a newly-built section and an old historical section erected in the 1950s mainly occupied by Commerzbank. This stilwerk location belongs to a group with further locations in Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Dortmund and Berlin. NIS ARB EDO also recently purchased the Berlin Treptower high rise in Autumn 2013.
