Nabarro has advised London House Exchange Limited, trading as Property Partner, on the establishment of its crowdfunding platform, which launched last week. Property Partner enables people to invest in individual residential properties, just as they can in company stocks. They then receive a monthly rental income — and benefit from any capital growth — in direct proportion to their ownership. The platform also enables investors to offer their property holdings for sale via a designated secondary market.
Nabarro has been involved with Property Partner from "start-up" phase until launch, advising on a number of areas across financial services, corporate and intellectual property. Nabarro also acted for Property Partner in relation to its fundraising with investors including Octopus, Seedcamp, Ed Wray (co-founder of BetFair) and Jon Moulton.
The Nabarro team led was by Corporate partner Warren Taylor, supported by Intellectual Property partner David Parrish, Financial Regulatory senior associate Sam Robinson and Corporate senior associate John Finnemore.
Commenting on the transaction, Warren Taylor, Partner at Nabarro said:
"We were thrilled to act on all stages of work leading to the launch of Property Partner. Property Partner offers retail investors an opportunity to invest in the residential property market, being an asset class that otherwise may be difficult for retail investors to acquire. Crowdfunding has undoubtedly become a popular form of investment and is a great alternative to conventional funding methods. However, it is still an evolving market and therefore our work was imperative to meet the FCA’s requirements relating to crowdfunding platforms".
Daniel Gandesha, founder and CEO of Property Partner, added:
"Eight months ago, we had no technology, no management team and no regulatory permissions. Today, we have a great team backed by world-class investors and a product that’s launched to considerable coverage. We’ve moved fast - and couldn’t have done it without the Nabarro team."
