PARTNER MOVES - Dentons welcomes Kevin Burron, leading construction lawyer and former structural engineer

20 Feb 2015

Dentons Canada LLP is pleased to announce that Kevin Burron has joined our firm as a partner in our construction practice group. Having spent 11 years as a structural engineer, Kevin worked both for a major construction company and an international consulting firm, and was primarily responsible for structural design, inspection and load-rating analysis of highway and railway bridges and heavy civil structures. He was also heavily involved in project management, developing contract and tender documents, and on-site construction supervision on a variety of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

In his transition to law, Kevin leveraged his experience and skills as an engineer and built a law practice that focused on both the litigation and transactional elements of construction. He represents owners, builders, contractors, developers, landlords and tenants on matters related to builders’ liens, construction deficiencies, bankruptcy and insolvency issues with respect to construction projects, oil and gas issues, professional negligence and contract interpretation issues, real property and land titles issues, commercial lease agreements, and condominium issues. He has argued before all levels of courts in Alberta, and has represented clients at arbitrations on a variety of construction-related claims.

In addition to the litigation component of his practice, Kevin assists clients with negotiating and drafting construction and EPC contracts, as well as ancillary documentation required for the successful completion of construction projects.

“We are delighted to have Kevin join our accomplished construction team,” says Don Leitch, Managing Partner of Dentons Calgary. “Kevin’s diverse and expansive knowledge as an engineer coupled with his excellent reputation in our legal and local communities, make him a tremendous asset to our clients.”

In addition to his busy law practice, Kevin is active in both the legal community and the community at large. He has dedicated numerous pro bono hours as Civil Claims Duty Counsel at the Provincial Court of Alberta with Pro-Bono Law Alberta.
