Baker & McKenzie, has advised longstanding client, Unilever, on its acquisition of leading independent prestige skincare brand, Kate Somerville Skincare. The transaction marks the third in a series of recent strategic skincare deals for Unilever, following the acquisitions of the Camay and Zest soap brands and the REN premium skincare brand, which both closed on 30 April.

Kate Somerville is an independent prestige skincare brand. It is one of the most trusted names in the premium US skincare market and its products are known for their innovation and performance. The brand is distributed through prestige retailers in the United States, and has a growing footprint in Asia.
The Baker & McKenzie team also included Partners Samantha Mobley (London), Michelle Blunt (London), Alan Zoccolillo (New York), Jonathan Stevens (New York) and Susan Eadi (San Francisco), together with Senior Associate David Scott (London) and Associate Maria Boccardo (London).
Unilever and Baker & McKenzie have worked together for over a decade. In addition to these acquisitions, the Firm has also advised Unilever on a number of recent M&A transactions, including the sale of its North American pasta sauces business under the Bertolli and Ragu brands and the disposal of its Slimfast business.
