Macfarlanes advises on acquisition and sublet of BBC Media Village

The Macfarlanes real estate team has advised Stanhope and the purchaser on the acquisition and sublet of the BBC’s Media Village site in West London which was undertaken in conjunction with Mitsui Fudosan UK Ltd (Mitsui Fudosan). The site will now be known as White City Place.

The commercial terms of the agreement comprise the purchase of four acres of freehold land for £87m and the lease of six buildings.  Three of these buildings will continue to be occupied by the BBC.  The other three buildings, comprising White City One, Media Centre and Garden House, will be fully refurbished and brought back to the market from late 2016, with a range of types and sizes of tenancies covering around 600,000 sq ft.

The Macfarlanes team was led by head of commercial real estate Ian Nisse, with real estate partners Clare Breeze and Dan Marriott, corporate partner Nicholas Barclay, tax partner Mark Baldwin and partner Richard Fletcher and senior counsel Simon Beale from finance.
