Norton Rose Fulbright advises Charlie Aitken on launch of exciting new AIM High Conviction Fund

18 Jun 2015

Norton Rose Fulbright has acted for new fund manager Aitken Investment Management (AIM) on the launch of its first investment fund offered to Australian sophisticated and institutional investors.

The AIM High Conviction Fund will be a global absolute return fund and will make concentrated investments in high conviction ideas lead by prominent Australian stock broker Charlie Aitken.

The highly anticipated launch was profiled on the front page of The Australian Financial Review on June 15, which described the switch by one of Australia's best-known stock brokers from the sell side to the buy side of the investment industry. Mr Aitken has more than 22 years of financial markets experience and is considered one of Australia’s leading macroeconomic forecasters and stock pickers.

Norton Rose Fulbright partner Fadi Khoury commented:

“This move reflects the continuing appetite among Australian investors for products that seek to access growth and mispricing opportunities in foreign markets, as well as a willingness to back key individuals with a track record in standing behind their views about market opportunities.”

Mr Aitken said:

“The product, people and timing of the fund are right. The fund structure is first class and scalable, aided by excellent advice from Norton Rose Fulbright. We aim to compound capital globally then protect when necessary”.
