Noerr has advised Deutsche Telekom AG on the takeover of 7,000 mobile network sites from Telefónica Deutschland. The interdisciplinary Noerr team was headed by the Düsseldorf corporate partners Dr Jens Liese and Dr Maurice Séché and the Berlin telecommunications law partner Dr Tobias Frevert.
Telefónica Deutschland is transferring these mobile network sites to Deutsche Telekom in the course of its integration of the O2 and E-Plus networks. The majority of the sites selected by both sides are rooftop phone masts. By taking over these sites, Deutsche Telekom will be able to implement its network expansion plans more quickly and provide its customers with additional performance in its own network even earlier. For Telefónica Deutschland, this transaction means that it can realise network integration synergies and concentrate on the expansion of its LTE network.
This comprehensive matter included providing advice on corporate/M&A issues and also in particular advising on the telecommunications, real estate and rental law aspects of the transaction. A Noerr team headed by Jens Liese had already advised Deutsche Telekom in the past, for example on the takeover of the eastern European broadband provider GTS Central Europe.
