Olswang has advised Endemol Shine, one of the world’s largest independent television and digital production companies, on acquiring a majority interest in animation studio Simon’s Cat Limited.

London-based Simon’s Cat was founded in 2008 by illustrator, animator and director Simon Tofield and is behind the digital comedy series of the same name, which claims 650 million views and 3.5 million subscribers on YouTube. The series of shorts, which follows the mischievous antics of a fat white cat and his owner, will now be available on Endemol Shine’s online channel and distribution network, Endemol Beyond. The two companies will also aim to expand the presence in publishing, licensing and merchandising, as well as on linear television.
