Thommessen has advised Aquila Capital in the acquisition of Småkraft AS. This is the largest transaction within Norwegian hydro power within the latest years.

Småkraft, the Norwegian operator and developer of small-scale hydropower plants, is to be fully acquired by the German asset manager, Aquila Capital.

Aquila is a significant and established investor in Norwegian hydro power with ownership in Norsk Grønnkraft (100%), Tinfos (36%) og Jørpeland Kraft (33%). The acquisition will further strengthen Aquila's position in Norwegian hydro power and European renewable energy and make Aquila Capital the largest operator of small-scale hydropower plants in Europe. The transaction includes Småkraft’s portfolio of 45 operating plants generating over 500 GWh annually

Småkraft is to be sold by the Norwegian energy companies: Statkraft, Agder Energi, BKK and Skagerak Energi.

The deal is expected to be concluded by the end of the year 2015.
