King & Wood Mallesons has advised Cargolux Airlines International S.A. (Cargolux) in the placement of a EUR 60 million loan note with Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale (Nord/LB).

Cargolux is Europe's largest all-cargo airline with more than 85 offices in over 50 countries and ranked among the top ten carriers on a global scale by freight tonns - kilometers. This transaction, however, is the first of its kind – entering into the continuously growing market of German law governed loan notes. Cargolux relies on Nord/LB, a business partner with long-standing experience in the field of loan notes.

The increased financial flexibility Cargolux gains from this loan note, underlines the company's ambitious strategy on accelerating its growth and competitiveness in the airfreight market.

The team of King & Wood Mallesons was led by Frankfurt based Banking and Finance partner Clemens Niedner and backed by tax specialists from Frankfurt as well as the firm's Luxembourg finance experts.
