Clifford Chance has advised the CCP IV fund managed by Tristan Capital Partners on its acquisition of the Garden Tower in Frankfurt.
The building, also commonly known as the Helaba building, offers 27,500 square metres of lettable space and is occupied by a number of different tenants. The Garden Tower was one of the first high-rise buildings in Frankfurt's banking district and was completely renovated between 2003 and 2005, reopening in 2006. The building was completely redesigned, with a brand new interior, new technical systems and a glass façade. The tower is around 126 metres high, with 27 floors and five basement levels. The building was awarded a "very good" BREEAM green building rating after it reopened in 2006. It houses the German headquarters of Société Générale on floors 11 to 16, with the second large tenant being Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG.
The Clifford Chance team was led by partner Cornelia Thaler and comprised counsel Dennis Blechinger (both Frankfurt) and associate Agnieszka Pikul (Munich) - all Real Estate, partner Dr. Beda Wortmann, senior associates Lena Hefele and Tanja Gropp and associate Necla Ilhan (all Banking & Capital Markets, Frankfurt), as well as partner Dr. Christof-Ulrich Goldschmidt and senior associate Lars Laeger (both Corporate, Frankfurt). Partner Steve Jacoby and associate Olivier Kronshagen (both Banking & Finance, Luxembourg) were also part of the team.
