DLA Piper advises Duke Street on its acquisition of Medi-Globe Corporation

02 Mar 2016

DLA Piper has advised Duke Street, the mid-market private equity firm, on the €140 million acquisition of Medi-Globe Corporation (Medi-Globe), a German based manufacturer and distributor of surgical and medical instruments.

The Medi-Globe acquisition is Duke Street’s fifth standalone deal outside a traditional fund structure, following on from the acquisitions of Forkrent, One Call Hire and Voyage, on which DLA Piper also advised.

Duke Street, which targets the healthcare sector (as well as services, consumer and industrials), adds Medi-Globe to a portfolio that has included other notable healthcare companies such as Voyage Care, one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist residential services, Baywater Healthcare, the sleep and respirator services provider, and Biomnis, the French specialist medical diagnostic company.

Tim Wright, Head of European Private Equity at DLA Piper, said: “We are delighted to have helped Duke Street on another investment in their successful deal by deal strategy, which once again utilised our cross-border and cross-discipline offering.”

The international team was led from London by Tim Wright, together with Funds partner James O’Donnell. Advice on national equity arrangements was also provided by partners Jan Schinkoeth (Munich), and Catherine Pogorzelski (Luxembourg).
