KWM advises CHAMP on strategic investment in Pepperstone

04 Mar 2016

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has advised funds managed by CHAMP Private Equity on their significant strategic investment in Melbourne-based global forex and CFD broker, Pepperstone.

Pepperstone was founded in 2010 by Owen Kerr and Joe Davenport and since then has grown into one of the top 10 FX brokers globally. It offers platforms for both retail and institutional clients and has offices in Melbourne, Shanghai and Dallas.

The significant investment from one of Australia’s leading private equity sponsors, CHAMP, will enable Pepperstone to further expand its reach and support it’s ambition to be the world’s number 1 FX broker.

The KWM team was led by KWM partners Mark McNamara, Yuen-Yee Cho and Mark McFarlane, supported by senior associate Matt Coull and solicitor Nick Ferrari.

Commenting on the deal, KWM partner, Mark McNamara said, “Pepperstone operates in an innovative and growing sector and has an international reach. The transaction demanded a variety of legal skillsets, including financial services and private equity expertise in Australia, Asia and Europe. We were delighted that CHAMP turned to KWM once again as the global firm that could deliver the advice it required.”
