Law firm Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance advised on the transaction awarded 'M&A Mid-Size Deal of the Year 2016' by Asian Legal Business. In the award winning deal, the firm advised Digicel Group in connection with the sale of Myanmar Tower Company.
In December 2015, Digicel Group sold its 75% controlling stake - valued at an enterprise value of US$221 million - in Digicel Asian Holdings, the indirect parent company of Myanmar Tower Company, to edotco Group Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Malaysia's Axiata Group. The deal is one of the largest M&A transactions to occur in Myanmar involving a foreign established company in the telecoms sector.
