Premier global law firm Baker & McKenzie has advised CRIF, a leading provider of banking credit information in its acquisition of credit bureaus and risk management provider specialists Deltavista. This transaction builds on CRIF's 2011 acquisition of Deltavista’s and Teledata’s business in Switzerland and Austria, which allowed CRIF to meet different needs and widen its service portfolio to serve financial institutions, companies, and consumers, and to become a benchmark in the e-commerce sector.
The Zurich, Munich and Warsaw offices of Baker & McKenzie advised CRIF on the acquisition, with a team led by Marcel Giger and Petra Hanselmann.
Established in 1988, CRIF is a global company specializing in credit bureau and business information, outsourcing and processing services, and credit solutions. CRIF has an international presence, operating over four continents. From the beginning of 2016 CRIF has enhanced its presence in Germany through the acquisition of Bürgel, one of the leading consumer and business information providers in Germany, with a 130-year track record. This transaction will further strengthen CRIF's position in the European market.
"By combining CRIF’s information systems and software solutions with Bürgel and Deltavista‘s data and risk management support systems, we will be able to support our clients to take informed decisions and operate competitively in an increasingly demanding market in terms of advanced solutions and technological flexibility.” said Carlo Gherardi, President and CEO of CRIF.
Baker & McKenzie partner Marcel Giger said, "We were very pleased to be able to assist on such a significant acquisition, which will further strengthen CRIF’s industry-leading positioning in the field of banking credit information and risk management solutions in continental Europe."
The Baker & McKenzie team who advised on this acquisition included among others Marcel Giger, Petra Hanselmann, Julia Schieber, Christian Rioult, Marcus Meese, Julian Slawik, Konrad Konarski, Michal Glowacki and Pawel Jaros.
