International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised long standing client HQ Equita on the sale of its majority ownership position in WindStar Medical Group (“WindStar”) to 7Life, a subsidiary of ProSiebenSat.1 Group.
Headquartered in Wehrheim, Germany, Windstar specialises in developing and marketing innovative over-the-counter healthcare products, with a portfolio including pharmaceutical travel kits and weight reduction treatments among others. Its products are available primarily in main stream retail outlets under brand names such as SOS, GREENDOC, Well & Slim and Vitalia. WindStar’s founders Wilfried Eichhorn and Dr. Thomas Kleine will continue to hold stakes in the company. The transaction is subject to approval by competition authorities.
The WFW team was led and coordinated by Munich corporate partner Dr Simon Preisenberger, with Hamburg partner Verena Scheibe advising on tax matters. They were supported by Munich corporate associates Joachim Heinemann and Cordula Schröter and Hamburg tax associate Jörg Walze. Hamburg partner Dr Stefan Kilgus and associate Dr Matthias Abendroth advised on the finance aspects of the transaction.
