Hallstar acquires Oléos

15 Sep 2016

Baker & McKenzie has advised the Hallstar group, the American specialty chemicals company, within the framework of the acquisition of Oléos, the French supplier of bioactive compounds.

This acquisition, carried out through its subsidiary Hallstar France SAS, will allow the American group to benefit from the technology developed by Oléos, the sole French supplier of natural compounds obtained exclusively via eco-extraction for use in cosmetics (anti-ageing, dark spot diminishment products, etc…). Hallstar will now be able to strengthen its expertise in terms of natural ingredients, notably vegetable oils, for use in the cosmetics industry: this acquisition will enable it to satisfy the growing consumer demand for products that are both natural and highly efficient.

Hallstar is one of the leading global providers of specialty chemistry solutions. The group produces high-performance products for use in the cosmetics industry but also for other sectors of activity such as agriculture.

Based in Montpellier, Oléos creates natural cosmetics ingredients thanks to a patented eco-extraction process. Its products rely on the synergy between the properties of vegetable oils together with the bio-molecules naturally present in plants, flowers, fruits and minerals.

The Baker & McKenzie team included Stéphane Davin (Partner), Guillaume Nataf and Caroline Chevillard from M&A, Nathalie Marchand and Émilie Gras from Intellectual Property; Laure Guillot and Marie-Amélie Roger were consulted on matters of Labour Law.
