Ashurst advised Aviva Investors and RBS on a £217 million loan to Bluefield Solar Income Fund

29 Sep 2016

Ashurst advised Aviva Investors on a £187 million long-term debt facility to Bluefield Solar Income Fund Limited, and The Royal Bank of Scotland ("RBS")  on a £30 million short-term revolving credit facility.

The facilities will fully refinance the short-term £200 million facility with RBS and Investec Bank, which closed on 22 January, 2016.

The Ashurst team was led by energy partner Antony Skinner, who was assisted by senior associate Fiona Palamarczuk and solicitors Helen Raynsford and Ari Garas in relation to the finance documents. Counsel Nicholas Hilder and senior associates Peter Grayson and Cathy Orgill advised on the project documents and real estate matters.

Commenting on the deal, Antony Skinner said:

"This is a great deal to close and we achieved this within a compressed timetable. It is a further example of how new groups of lenders, such as Aviva, are willing to lend long term fixed and index linked debt to solar portfolios alongside more traditional lenders such as RBS."
