DLA Piper advised Rand Merchant Bank on R10 billion rights issue by Remgro Limited

DLA Piper has advised Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), a division of FirstRand Bank Limited, in its capacity as the underwriter of the approximately R10 billion rights issue by Remgro Limited. This deal represents one of the largest rights issues in South Africa in 2016.

RMB is a South African diversified financial services brand encompassing investment banking, fund management, corporate banking and advisory services. All businesses in the RMB brand stable form part of the wider FirstRand Group.

Johannes Gouws, Corporate partner and Country Managing Partner for South Africa, who led on the deal said: "This transaction represents the first publicly announced deal for the newly established DLA Piper Johannesburg office.
