Sidley represented Aboitiz Power Corporation in its US$1.2 billion acquisition of a 66.1 percent interest in a 604 MW subcritical coal-fired power plant and a 40 percent interest in a 1,336 MW greenfield supercritical coal-fired power plant in the Philippines. The power projects were acquired following a private auction by Blackstone/Sithe Global. Sidley also represented Aboitiz Power Corporation in the US$650 million acquisition financing facility from international banks led by Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and Standard Chartered Bank.
The primary Singapore-based team was led by partners Nick Grambas and David Gartside, and the team also included counsel Waltter Kulvik and associates Jeremy Chase, Gmeleen Tomboc and Leo Shaw, all from the Singapore office, as well as counsel Hoda Naghdy in Sydney and Scott Goldstein in Chicago.
