DLA Piper represented oil and gas exploration and production company Oasis Petroleum Inc., in the acquisition of approximately 55,000 net acres in North Dakota's Williston Basin from SM Energy Company in a US$785 million transaction.

The newly acquired assets will increase Oasis' core acreage and inventory by approximately 25 percent.

Oasis was represented by Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Nickolas Lorentzatos and Senior Counsel, Natara Williams, along with a DLA Piper team led by US Co-Chair for the Energy sector Jack Langlois (Houston) with support from partners Frank Mugabi and Paolo Morante (both of New York), and associates Taylor Randazzo and Debo Adesina (both of Houston).
