DLA Piper drafts law on Energy Efficiency Fund in Ukraine

DLA Piper is advising GIZ GmbH, the German international development agency and the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, and Building and Nuclear Safety on the creation of a Ukrainian national Energy Efficiency Fund.

The firm will now provide support on the next stage of the project, which includes supporting the drafting of legislation for Ukraine to set-up the Energy Efficiency Fund. DLA Piper will work alongside a working group consisting of representatives from the European Commission, Energy Community Secretariat, World Bank, International Finance Corporation, as well as GFA Consulting Group, McKinsey & Company, and Ukrainian governmental institutions which includes: the Ministry of Regional Development, the Construction and Housing Sector, the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and the Energy Saving of Ukraine.

The firm previously advised GIZ GmbH (see here for details), and the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety on the establishment of the Energy Efficiency Fund. The Fund is expected to become one of the key institutional drivers in improving the energy efficiency of the residential and other buildings in Ukraine.
