KWM advises on Urban Purveyor Group's acquisition of Rockpool Group

08 Nov 2016

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has advised Quadrant Private Equity portfolio company Urban Purveyor Group on its acquisition of Rockpool Group.

Urban Purveyor Group will merge with the Rockpool Group to create The Rockpool Dining Group.

The Rockpool Dining Company will boast one of Australia’s largest and most diverse dining and entertainment portfolios with 47 venues, 15 dining brands and over 3,000 employees across four states. The current brands include Rockpool Bar & Grill, Rosetta, Spice Temple, Burger Project, Sake, Fratelli Fresh and The Bavarian Bier Cafe.

The KWM team was led by Head of Private Equity Mark McNamara and Special Counsel Alex Elser with support from solicitor Stephanie Daaboul and Graduate Thomas Rust. Partner Tim Sherman and Senor Associate Joseph Power provided Tax advice and Partner Scott Bouvier and Senior Associate Melissa Miller provided Commercial and Intellectual Property advice.

"We are pleased to have supported the team at Urban Purveyor Group on the addition of the Rockpool suite of restaurants and its fast food chain, Burger Project. The stable of quality dining choices that the enlarged group can now offer is truly unique and positions it as one of the key players in the Australian hospitality sector. We look forward to continuing to work with Tom, Neil and the rest of the team as they continue to execute on the group's expansion plans.” said McNamara.

KWM previously advised Quadrant Private Equity on its acquisition of UPG and UPG's subsequent acquisition of Fratelli Fresh earlier this year
