Copenhagen Infrastructure II K/S (CI II), a DKK 14.7 billion infrastructure fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, and Terna Energy S.A. (Terna), part of the GEK Terna group, have today announced their joint investment in the onshore wind farm Fluvanna I in Scurry County, Texas.
CI II will provide a USD 61 million mezzanine loan for the construction of Fluvanna I which will be owned and operated by Terna. The total investment in the project will be USD 251 million.
Fluvanna I will consist of seventy-four 2.1 MW Gamesa turbines with a total project rated output of 155.4 MW and is expected to commence commercial operations in Q4, 2017. Wanzek, a leading EPC contractor in the US onshore wind market, will construct and erect the turbines, and Gamesa will provide operational and maintenance services while Terna will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and management of the wind farm.
It is the intention that the partnership with Terna shall continue and lead to the joint development of additional wind farms in Texas, beginning with the Fluvanna II wind farm adjacent to Fluvanna I with an expected output of 130 MW.
