Dechert LLP advised Emmaüs, a non-profit founded by l’abbé Pierre, on the creation of its new Emmaüs e-shop label. The website aims to serve as a growth driver for the 350 vintage Emmaüs shops in France, bring visibility to isolated communities and offer new services to buyers. Throughout the creation of the Emmaüs’ e-shop label, the Dechert team assisted in transitioning the company structure from a société coopérative d’intérêt collectif (SCIC) to a société par actions simplifiée (SAS).
The Paris-based team advising Emmaüs on this pro bono matter was led by corporate partners François Hellot and Anne-Charlotte Rivière and tax partner Bruno Leroy. Additional assistance was from corporate associate Madalina Suru, antitrust associate Romain Maulin, labor and employment associate Laudine Daniel, and tax associates Antoine Le Touzé and Alexandra Chevalier.
