MUNICH (10 January 2017) – Reed Smith comprehensively advised the Canadian company Rakuten Kobo Inc. on the acquisition of the tolino technology platform from Deutsche Telekom and the technology cooperation with the Tolino-Alliance. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close end of January 2017.
The e-reading-specialist Kobo steps into the Tolino alliance, which is one of the leading brands for digital reading in the German-speaking world, and becomes – in place of Deutsche Telekom – their new technology partner.
