White & Case LLP has advised international private equity group Bridgepoint and Stockholm-based Nordic Cinema Group Holding AB (Nordic) on the all-cash SEK8.25 billion (US$929 million) sale, by Bridgepoint and Swedish media group Bonnier Holding, of Nordic to AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. (AMC Theatres).
The transaction is conditional on antitrust clearance by the European Commission, which is expected to be received in the first half of 2017.
Bridgepoint is a major international private equity group focused on investing in market-leading businesses, working with management teams to create and realise value within its portfolio companies.
Nordic is the largest theatre exhibitor in Scandinavia, the Nordics and the Baltics, with 68 theatres and a substantial minority interest in a further 50 to which it provides a variety of shared services. AMC Theatres is the largest movie exhibition company in the US, Europe and throughout the world with around 900 theatres and more than 10,000 screens.
