Dechert Advises Columna Capital on CDPQ/Datamars Investment

15 March 2017 / LONDON – Dechert LLP advised Columna Capital on the sale of a stake in Datamars to Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ). The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.

Datamars is a global company based in Switzerland whose technology is used to identify and track livestock, companion animals and textiles. Through its emphasis on constant innovation and its ability to successfully acquire and integrate other companies, it has grown to be one of the leaders in each of the three segments in which it operates.

CPDQ will become Datamars’ largest shareholder, investing alongside Columna, who have been invested in the company since 2011.

The cross-border Dechert team was led by London-based corporate/private equity partner Sean Geraghty alongside financial services and investment management partners Christopher Gardner (London), Jean-Louis Frognet (Luxembourg) and Gus Black (London).

The deal team also included competition national partner Clemens Graf York von Wartenburg (Frankfurt); corporate associates Ross Montgomery, Tony Brown, Joshua Smith and Kenny MacLeod (London); financial services and investment management associates Nathalie Sadler (London) and Gwendoline Licata (Luxembourg); and tax associates Daniel Hawthorne and Nicolas Kokkinos (London).
