DWF advises Sofology on DFS deal

03 Aug 2017

International legal business DWF has advised retail chain Sofology Ltd on its proposed buy-out deal by DFS.

Sofology is a specialist sofa retailer with a network of 37 stores in the UK which, together with a strong web presence, offers customers a technology-led omni-channel proposition.

DFS is the UK's market leading retailer of living room and upholstered furniture, operating a retail network of living room furniture stores in Britain and Europe, together with an online channel.

The deal will see DFS further broaden its offer to customers, through Sofology’s distinctive consumer proposition, and as part of the Group’s portfolio of strong furniture brands.

Jason Tyldesley the CEO of Sofology, together with the current Sofology management team, will continue to lead the business post completion.

Jonathan Robinson, DWF Head of Private Equity, advised Sofology on the deal with support from senior associate Darren Ormsby, senior associate James Cashman, solicitor Francesca Kinsella and trainee solicitor Ciara Healy.

Jonathan said: "We are thrilled to have advised Sofology on this transaction. The acquisition of Sofology will allow the retailer to enter its next phase of growth in the retail sector. This deal represents DWF's core sector capability and the continued growth of our corporate team."
