CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon was counsel for the UITSEM Group, a union of mutuals, as part of the merger-absorption of SMECO and SMEREB with SMERRA.

The UITSEM Group (Managing Director: Lionel Lérissel) coordinates the activities of student mutuals SMERRA, SMEREB and SMECO, members of the "emeVia” national network of student mutuals with more than 30 agencies across various regions, insuring more than 250,000 students.

This strategic reorganisation, coordinated by the UITSEM Group, reflects the trend of concentration in student mutual insurance. Student mutuals are restructuring in order to be of a sufficient size to meet the growing and diverse needs of students by proposing increasingly innovative and reliable solutions at attractive prices.

This merger is subject to the approval of the ACPR (French Prudential Control and Resolution Authority).
