Hamburg based Quantum Group has acquired the MIK office complex in Düsseldorf on behalf of a consortium of Korean institutional investors led by Capstone Asset Management. Capstone and Quantum were advised on the transaction by Clifford Chance.
The complex extending over some 53,000 square metres was acquired by means of a share deal. Clifford Chance also advised on the structuring and financing of the transaction.
Located in Düsseldorf city centre at Friedrichstr. 62-80, the MIK complex comprises six buildings built between 1954 and 1997. Extensive renovation work was carried out on the property in 2014. The entire complex is occupied by the Ministry of the Interior of North-Rhine Westphalia.
Capstone Asset Management was established in 2009 and is one of Korea's fastest growing asset managers. It currently manages assets worth around EUR 1.8 billion. The MIK deal is Capstone's fourth individual transaction in Europe. Clifford Chance already advised the Korean manager on the acquisition of Zalando's headquarters in Berlin in April 2017.
