DLA Piper advises Equis Energy on Tailem Bend Solar Farm

19 Feb 2018

DLA Piper has advised Asia’s largest independent renewable energy developer Equis Energy (Australia) Pty Ltd (Equis) on the development of a 127 MW Solar Farm and 132/3Kv Substation at Tailem Bend, South Australia.

Financial close was achieved on 14 February 2018, and construction of the project by UGL Engineering will commence shortly. The AU$200 million project will be the biggest solar array in South Australia, with 400,000 solar panels spread across 200 hectares.

The DLA Piper team was led by Finance and Projects partner Dan Brown, with the financing workstream lead by partner Kate Papailiou. Dan and Kate were supported by Bing Wang, Marnie Carroll and Kim Eichorn. The team advised on all aspects of the project, including the tenure documentation, power purchase agreement, connection agreement, finance documents, due diligence and EPC and O&M documents.

Dan Brown said: "The South Australian renewable energy market is incredibly active and this is the largest solar project to date. We’re so very pleased to support Equis in this, their first onshore energy deal in Australia."

DLA Piper is also advising Equis on all aspects of its portfolio of renewable generation assets in Australia and has supported Equis on the development of their Asian-based portfolio of market-leading renewables projects.
