Hogan Lovells’ cross-border team advises SCAT on its purchase of new Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft

12 Apr 2018

Hogan Lovells has successfully advised JSC Aircompany (SCAT), the second largest Kazakh airline, on its purchase of up to six new Boeing 737 MAX-8 from The Boeing Company. The first aircraft from this order has been delivered to our client on 29 March 2018.

The parties signed the transaction documents on the last day of the Dubai Airshow on 16 November 2017. The transaction has become the pioneering deal on the Kazakh local aviation market on delivery of new aircraft manufactured by Boeing. SCAT has become the first airline which has received Boeing 737 MAX-8 not only among Kazakh airlines but also among airlines of other CIS countries as well as in the Central Asia region. Finally, SCAT has purchased the first new aircraft in its history.

The Hogan Lovells' team had been represented by partner Robert Fugard (London), counsel Alexander Gasparyan and associate Vladimir Porokhin (both Moscow).
