Stuttgart – Funds advised by PREMIUM Equity Partners have taken a majority stake in the CLARUS Films Group, which is headquartered in Dietzenbach near Frankfurt. The seller is PINOVA Capital, a private equity fund based in Munich.
An international CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Tobias Schneider advised PREMIUM Equity Partners on all legal aspects of the transaction. Individual topics included reinvestment by management and advice on acquiring the company’s foreign subsidiaries. This successful transaction is the first one to be handled by CMS for PREMIUM Equity Partners.
Frankfurt-based private equity firm PREMIUM Equity Partners was established in 2011. It focuses on strong niche companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with sales of between EUR 10 million and 50 million. The company invests in the context of growth finance, succession arrangements and spin-offs. Going forward, PREMIUM Equity Partners will assist CLARUS Films in expanding its European business and benefiting from market consolidation within the packaging film industry.
Established more than 30 years ago, CLARUS Films is a leading independent provider in the packaging and laminate film industry, with annual sales of almost EUR 60 million. The management team retains a stake in the company and the employee stock option programme has been significantly expanded.
