Burges Salmon advises on multi-million pound restaurant development

28 Jan 2013

Real estate specialists at leading UK law firm Burges Salmon have advised Canadian & Portland Estates Plc on a significant new restaurant development in South West London.

The project known as ‘Riverside Kingston’ - which commenced in January 2013 and will have an end development value of £30m - will see the redevelopment of the Riverside Walk in Kingston upon-Thames which it is hoped will boost future revenue growth for the surrounding area.

The first tenants at the restaurant complex will include Cote Brassiere, Thai restaurant Naamyaa and Cau (part of Goucho Grill). The aim is to transform the riverside in Kingston-upon-Thames into a dynamic restaurant destination, surrounded by engaging public space.

The multi-disciplinary legal team at Burges Salmon has been led by partner Ross Polkinghorne, who specialises in acting for developers on real estate development projects. He was supported by Sally Jupp and Ailsa Fudge (real estate) Gary Soloman and Alex Minhinick (planning and highways) and Kelly Lofts (construction).

John Miles of Canadian & Portland Estates Plc said: “We are delighted to see this project up and running, which we believe will further invigorate this wonderful part of Kingston town centre. The knowledge and insight of the team at Burges Salmon was extremely beneficial throughout this process, providing us with the right technical support to realise our vision.”

Ross Polkinghorne of Burges Salmon said: “It is a pleasure to be involved in this exciting project which is set to make a real impact on Kingston-upon-Thames and allow even more residents and visitors to benefit from this attractive riverside area. We were able to draw on expertise from across a number of our teams to offer a tailored solution for the client.”
