Brown Rudnick announced that Charles Munn has joined its New York office as a partner in the Crisis Management Litigation & Government Response group, further bolstering the Firm’s position as a market leader in this space.
Munn’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including contract, business tort, intellectual property disputes and related appeals. He joins the Firm from Cravath Swaine & Moore. His arrival follows the key hires last year of Mark Grider, Aaron Lang and Jonathan Fahey who have helped establish Brown Rudnick as a “go to” firm for crisis management litigation and investigations. Munn worked with Grider and Lang at Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft.
“I’m proud to lead such a talented, diverse and experienced team that can handle a wide range of crises for clients,” said Grider. “Charles gives us another arrow in the quiver to help solve complex client challenges.”
The group launched in April with the arrival of Grider in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office, and expanded in May with the addition of Lang as a partner in the Firm’s New York office. Lang has extensive experience in multibillion-dollar and other high-stakes litigation and investigations for banks, investment firms and corporate clients.
Fahey joined the Firm in July as a counsel in the D.C. office. Fahey is a former federal and state prosecutor with extensive trial experience. He served as an assistant U.S. attorney and special assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia.
The group also includes Litigation & Arbitration Partner Chelsea Mullarney, who serves as one of the Firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion partners, as well as a team of talented counsel and associates.
Grider explained that his group supports clients in a distinctively personal way. “Creating an exceptional client experience while delivering successful outcomes is our ethos,” he said. “Our clients tell us that they value our commitment to developing authentic relationships with in-house lawyers and executives, and view it as a key differentiator between us and other firms. We also hear that they like working with diverse lawyers who are leaders within the firm, including women and lawyers of color.”
The group is backed by a deep bench of litigators and white collar lawyers. Together, they guide companies and individuals through sensitive legal and business matters to avert and contain crises, minimize legal exposure and protect reputation.
“We are thrilled with how quickly the Crisis Management Litigation & Government Response group has progressed and become a lighthouse for clients navigating the storms of business and life,” said Sunni Beville, managing director of Brown Rudnick’s Dispute Resolution & Restructuring Department. “Several of our partners have worked extensively with Charles in the past and are excited to welcome him to Brown Rudnick.”
Munn received a B.A. summa cum laude with highest honors from the University of Georgia and a J.D. with honors from the University of Texas School of Law.
“Brown Rudnick has a distinguished team of lawyers, many of whom I have worked with for years. I have seen firsthand how dedicated they are to providing their clients with the highest level of service,” Munn said. “I am so happy to be joining such a well-respected firm and I look forward to working with my colleagues to tackle our clients’ most pressing challenges.”
