PARTNER MOVES - Corporate partner hire for Simmons’ London practice

01 Feb 2023

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced that Alexander Keepin will be joining the firm’s corporate practice in London as a partner.

Alexander joins Simmons from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, where he has been head of the firm’s mining team since 2011. Alexander is recognised primarily for his equity capital market and mining work, whilst his practice covers advising investment banks and issuers on mergers and acquisitions, across the energy, natural resources and energy transition space.

More specifically, Alexander specialises in advising corporates and investment banks on initial public offerings and secondary issues on both the Main Market and AIM. He also has considerable experience advising on joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions, including reverse takeovers, for energy and natural resources companies and funds investing in the sector.

Upon arriving at Simmons, Alexander will join the firm’s extensive international corporate practice where he will work closely with the firm’s UK head of energy, natural resources and infrastructure, Iain Duncan and corporate partner Isabella Roberts.

Simmons' UK corporate and commercial head, Arthur Stewart said: "We are delighted that Alexander is joining us adding strength to our growing UK M&A and Listed Company practices. His hire follows the arrival of David Hicks in January and demonstrates the firm’s commitment to building its corporate capabilities out of London."

Commenting on Alexander's hire, Iain said: “Welcoming a partner of Alexander’s calibre and expertise to the firm’s high-performing energy, natural resources and infrastructure practice is a reflection of our ambition to drive a market-leading presence with a unique client offering. There is huge opportunity for us to expand our footprint as an increasing number of clients look at their role in the energy transition and the supply of the critical minerals necessary for this transition and Alexander will be a major asset in this respect.”

On joining Simmons, Alexander commented: “With my extensive experience advising ENRI-focused London listed companies, and those with multiple listings, I have clear natural alignment with Simmons’ existing focus within the corporate practice. I look forward to cross selling my expertise across the firm’s international network and increasing the firm’s energy and natural resources corporate capacity out of London, deepening the sector focus across all types of funding and M&A activity for these clients."

This hire follows the arrival of David Hicks in January and the promotion of Andrea Tompkins to the firm’s US securities practice last year.
