PARTNER MOVES - Melissa Gomez Nelson rejoins Dentons commercial litigation practice in Washington, DC

07 Feb 2023

Dentons announces that Melissa Gomez Nelson has returned to the Firm’s Commercial Litigation practice as a partner in the Washington, DC, office. Gomez Nelson’s arrival back to the Firm will benefit clients across a range of industries including government investigations, government contracts, complex commercial litigation and white collar matters.

Gomez Nelson rejoins Dentons after three years working in-house at a publicly traded information technology consulting company. Most recently, she served as its first-ever director of litigation, where she managed enterprise-wide litigation and routinely advised the company’s C-suite on high profile matters. A seasoned commercial litigator, Gomez Nelson focuses her practice on issues related to the False Claims Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), internal and external investigations and other complex commercial litigation as well as white collar matters.

“Melissa is a dynamic, high energy litigator who has gained a wealth of knowledge from managing complex litigation and business problems during her time in-house,” said Sandra Hauser, head of the Dentons US Commercial Litigation practice. “We are thrilled to welcome Melissa back, as her broad and deep skill set will add considerable value to our practice and our clients.”

Previously, Gomez Nelson was in private practice, including McKenna Long & Aldridge, which merged with Dentons US in 2015. There, she represented both publicly traded and privately held US companies in FCPA investigations involving countries around the world, including Mexico, Germany, Turkey and others in the Middle East.

Gomez Nelson’s arrival follows closely that of Gary Meyerhoff, who also returned to the Firm’s Commercial Litigation practice after a few years of serving an in-house role. Both litigators made the decision to return to private practice based on past relationships and diversity of work.
